test drive : the all new saga
Ari ni i take my own sweet time pi Proton Edar. Saja nak pi tengok hasil kerja my company to some of the part.Hehehehe. Looks okeh la hahahaha. Kita buat ikut proton nyer spec, quality and inspection. So bila dah they all approve means segala tanggungjawab tu they all nyer responsible lah rite.
They gave me the highest spec to test drive.After filling in some forms, the key is in my hand. First impression, quite a nice car for 40K.They have 3 trimline basically N,B and H – sumer tu beza dari segi kosmetik lah. and the cheapest is the N line, basically a car without any stupid accesories ie sportrim etc.priced at abt 32k manual transmission with a 7 months waiting list.

For a 40 K car, the overal car is nice; but being badged by proton could jeopardized some potential buyer.ppl somehow will start to think about the quality and the realibility of the parts for the long run. the car might look odds at certain angle. ie bontot pendek, tinggi and quite kurus. first impression, lawa lah gak.cuma proton biasa laa, ada gaps here and there.
cabin wise, agak luas. rasa rasanya lebih luas dari waja and wira kot.maybe the height membuatkan rasa lebih lapang. simple dashboard.cuma signal and wiper stick tu cam waja, ala ala continental car gitu.No funky buttons and gadgets there.what do you expect rite, nak tengok buttons and switch banyak banyak pi bawak aircraft laaa.

But, as for me; the plastic materials used on the dashboard and around the car looks cheap, feel cheap. donno how long it would last. ni demo car pun dah nampak cam goyah jer.but again, no complain on the 40K car.
According to the friendly salesman, the average consumption for the car is about 12 cents per km which is quite okeh la i guess.it is a 1.3 litre with an auto transmission btw. the ride is firm with quite a nice handling. NVH pun okeh, tapi ni keter baru and i drive pun tak laju so might be not so accurate lah. the car i drove feel a bit spongy on the brake. macam tak berapa grip. maybe its still baru as the pads are not really worn off lagi kot. a bit sluggish but much better compared to a 1.5 wira auto.

Its also comes with a cd player though i’m not sure whether it plays MP3 or not. Tapi klu nak masuk DVD sah tk leh main kat situ yer adik adik. One thing that i not very like is the placement of the 12V outlet, ada ker letak kat ngan cup holder. so klu u letak tin air, benda tu dah terhalang. design flaw my pren.

ni dalam bontot dia. i just nak highlight the manufacturing defect kat sini. notice the uneven paint color tu, setengah ijou and setengah putih. ni paint department punya kerja la ni. qc lak lepas pandang in order to meet quantity. tapi most of malaysian dah terlalu tebal sifat tak apaaaa tu. lagi lemak ler depa kan!! hey, its our hard earned money tuuuu

kudos to proton designers who came out with the car. and kudos to management teams.they finally deliver what market needs. a simple yet practical car with not so burden price tag. they were improving though it tooks more than 20 years since. and yes, we cant compare proton with honda or toyota.. but its not wrong to aim high right!!
