a wake up call

I received a call from a friend. A great humble person though she leads a succesful team at a high profile corporate sector. She were at her hometown with the beloved dad. They were at a small function at their small kampung. Out of the blue, the said function turns to a big event after one prominent menteri agrees to come and to rasmi and to launch some stuff there. (read – pemilihan umno is coming soon)

So all the cik kiahs and mak bedah; were at their best attires. All pak akob, cik mahmud and pak dollah cancelled their morning parliament session at the fav coffe shops. Payah weh nak tengok menteri datang neh….. so it was an event not to be missed.

According to her, the menteri suppose to arrive at 8 30 am. Give some speech and then rasmi the event; followed by a nice ‘jamuan pagi’.

She called me at around 10 30 am. Really pissed off coz the said menteri is still tak muncul. All the pakcik pakcik still menanti dengan sabar and sabar and sabar….mak bedah dan kak kiah dah berapa kali betulkan tudung, top up lipstik dan maskara.

Ayyo…

She pitied the orang orang tua and orang orang kampung yang too eager to see the menteri. Terpaksa menanti dalam kepanasan and dalam keadaan yg kurang selesa.

Its typical janji melayu.

Janji kol 8 30 lewat 2 jam is considered normal

But this is menteri

Gerak ada escort. Ada polis and ada pengiring

Boleh speed. Tak kena speed trap

Takyah bayar toll

Keta, lori, bas, beca, wheelbarrow sumer kena beri laluan kalau menteri lalu

Tapi kenapa masih lewat? Kenapa masih lambat?

Tak boleh ker tunjukkan satu teladan yang baik?

Tepati masa

Tepati janji!

Baru orang respect

Baru boleh pangkah again rite!

Entahlah…..

Abanglong just conveyed what she said.

Tapi abanglong setuju with what she said. If you are a leader. You must show good examples. Baru orang boleh respect rite. But ; pernah few months back; this menteri ni punya boss. Ada event kat kampung my pakcik. Event on Friday, kol 10 30 pagi.

Dah lebih dua jam lewat

Finally datang;  naik helicopter. From kl. (rumah dia yg kaler ijau tu ada helipad you knowww)

Tapi orang kampung dah 90% dah balik. Tinggal pegawai2 jer.

Hari jumaat bang….panggilan Ilahi lebih penting.

Naik helicopter, bukan kena beratur pun. Nak kata windy; ceraaaah jer cuaca. Last last; sampai… orang dah balik. Padan muka.

(but wait… itu kan hari jumaat. Malam before tu kan malam jumaat…… ada gangguan ‘jin’ kot….ngeh ngeh ngeh….)
